About the Author:

Betty Akinyi Odak was born in a small town called Oyugis in Kenya. At an early age, she learned that hard work have its benefits and challenges. Odak was the first born in a family of twelve children. Her father died in a car accident when she was twelve years old. Odak reported that she watched her mother struggle to raise twelve children alone and that is where she gets her motivation. Odak came to America in 1995 to continue with her education. She had her first degree in 1999, Psychology major at Biola University, La Mirada, and a master’s degree in Psychology ( emphasis -Marriage and Family Therapy) from Hope International University, Fullerton - 2003. Odak is currently enrolled in a PhD program for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Odak is the founder and editor of an online magazine ‘Beyond Cross Cultural Magazine, Inc, - website http://www.bcultural.org a non profit organization that supports foreigners coming to US for the first time and informing all multicultural people of different issues, including: finances, relationships, immigration laws, cultural issues and adjustment. Odak works with emotionally, physically, sexually, and psychologically abused and neglected children in a group home and foster care settings. She lives in Redlands, California with her family.
